Relatively little change on Monday, with an overall average across the three sites of 435 ppm for the day. The three sites began the day at quite different values but converged by day’s end.

The latest estimate of global average temperature reported in the NCEP Climate Forecast System (CFS) version 2 data-set now stretches to 29 consecutive days (up to Sunday) above the temperature for any previous day in its 45 year record, and some scientists believe these are likely to be the highest global temperatures for about 120,000 years.  

There are methods other than direct measurement to obtain information about carbon emissions in cities, including satellite data, night-time lighting, carbon inventories, etc.  The various alternatives have different features, such as trading off temporal for spatial resolution.  Today’s final figure shows estimated carbon emissions for Shanghai between 2000 and 2015.  This study used a variety of data sources and methods to arrive at annual figures, showing emissions growth attributed to different sources over those 15 years.
